DAYTON, Ohio, Mar. 30, 2021 – CSafe Global, the innovation leader in active, passive parcel and cell and gene temperature-controlled container solutions for the transport of life-enhancing pharmaceuticals, has earned the approval of more than 75% of major airlines worldwide to transport their ULDs with integrated tracking devices providing real-time shipment visibility to CSafe customers.
“Airline approval for an integrated tracking device has always been a hurdle to implementing true shipment visibility,” noted Tom Weir, CSafe Global COO. “These devices use cellular service for location tracking and to deliver the data in real-time to the shipment visibility platform. We all know the use of cellular devices is forbidden in flight, so we conducted extensive research to identify a solution that provides our customer with the data they need while complying with aviation requirements.”
The devices integrated in CSafe RKN and RAP containers are designed to go into flight safe mode for the duration of the flight. Once the aircraft lands, the device starts transmitting the data it recorded in flight when it is safe to do so.
Following extensive testing by CSafe and airline partners, the airline industry has been quick to approve the device integrated into CSafe containers. Just a few of the airlines that have approved CSafe ULDs for flight with activated real-time tracking devices include: ANA Cargo, Air Canada, Air France, American Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Cargolux, Delta Airlines, DHL, Emirates SkyCargo, Etihad, IAG Cargo, Japan Airlines, Korean Airlines, LATAM Cargo, Lufthansa, NCA, Singapore Airlines, United Cargo and many others. A complete list of airline approvals is available on the CSafe website.
CSafe will finish retrofitting the entire active fleet soon so that customers who want to take advantage of this innovative solution always have the option to do so. Containers that travel on airlines that have not approved the real-time tracking device will have the tracking device deactivated for those shipments.
